I am going to update this at least once a week. It not exactly the most productive thing to do in the world but it's better than having ESPN News on in the background while I check my email for the 40th time. Might as well write on here.

I am also going to update this anytime a pitcher on my fantasy baseball team, Donaghy Estates, pitches against the Dodgers in Chavez Ravine. I have six National League pitchers on my team and Kelvim Escobar who might pitch when the Angels come to town next month.

And once in a while...like today!...I'm going to write about the first five songs that come up on my iPod while on random play. This is such a cliche and lame idea but I want to try it anyway. No skipping. And considering there are a gang of songs I haven't even heard on the iPod, could be interesting.

Here it goes:

  • Three Bricks - Ghostface feat. Notorious B.I.G and Raekwon
Starts off with first Biggie verse from Niggas Bleed which is kinda odd I think, just seems outta place on this cd. It's not like you can say anything bad about this verse, Biggie smashes it as he did on a regular basis. I usually don't make it to this track on Fishscale which is kinda long anyway but still pretty good.

  • Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You - Bob Dylan
"Throw my ticket out the window, throw my suitcase out there too, throw my troubles out the door, I don't need them anymore, 'cause tonight I'll be staying here with you." The opening line to one of my favorite songs off maybe my favorite Dylan cd. This whole cd is definitely the softer side of Dylan, easily his most country sound. He's not unleashing any of that 'Idiot Wind' or 'Positively 4th Street' venom. He's singing about how happy he is, how in love he is, how he's changing his plans because he's staying here with you. And it's Bob Dylan so you aren't gonna say, "Oh man, Bob, I gotta get up early in the morning, I'll call you later."

  • Brown Skin Lady - Black Star
Mos Def and Talib Kweli were quite the duo. Their solo careers have not gone to heights as some expected. It's not one of my favorite songs from this cd but it fits in nicely with the rest of the cd, not so much as a random song you just pick out to listen too. I've always liked the Talib line, " I don't get many compliments but I am confident."

  • Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
I was never a huge Pumpkins fan but the stuff I have heard I tended to like. I just didn't really get into them too much. This is a jam though. Guitar solo rocks. I don't think I really know much more to say about this song, it's a good, solid rock song.

  • Leavin' Trunk - The Black Keys
I love the Black Keys. I think they should be right up there with The White Stripes. Maybe had the Black Keys had stunning music videos made by Gondry things would be different. This is off their first full length, The Big Come Up. I got around to getting this one after their Thickfreakness and Rubber Factory. There are a lot of songs on this cd that I haven't heard a lot. It's a grimey, blusey, shout at cocktail waitresses in a dive bar type jam. It's also pretty straight forward.

Goin' upstairs to pack my leavin' trunk
I ain't seen no whiskey - woman make me sloppy

Ain't seen no whiskey - woman made me drunk
Goin' back home - where I had much better luck
Look here darling - want me to be your king
Said you're kiddin' darling - gotta keep it hid

Don't let your main man - your husband catch me here

Don't let your main man - your husband catch me here

That's all in the first 1:45, the next 75 seconds are just the Akron boys treating their guitar and drums like they did something wrong.
